SLC Stars Make Three Selections in 2025 NBA G League Draft Led By First-Year GM Katie Benzan

Team Selects Des Watson with the 28th overall pick, Carter Whitt with the 30th overall pick, and Jermaine Couisnard with the 34th overall pick.

SALT LAKE CITY (October 25, 2025) — The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, today selected guards Des Watson, Carter Whitt, and Jermaine Couisnard in the 2025 NBA G League Draft.

Watson (6-5, 210,Loyola-Chicago) was selected with the 28th pick in the first round of the NBA G League Draft after two seasons respectively at Loyola-Chicago (2023-25) and Davidson (2021-23). The Columbus, Ohio, native started in 36 of his 37 games played last season, averaging 12.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 34.6 minutes of action.

Whitt (6-4, 175, Furman) joins the Stars after being selected with the 30th overall pick following two seasons at Furman, one season at Belmont (2022-23), and two at Wake Forest (2020-22). The Raleigh, N.C., native appeared in 62 games for the Paladins, averaging 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 2023-24, while ranking sixth in the Southern Conference in assists (117), and tallying nine double-figure scoring efforts.

Couisnard (6-4, 210, Oregon) was selected by Salt Lake City with the 34th overall pick following his collegiate career at Oregon and the University of South Carolina. The East Chicago, Ind., native started all 36 games during the 2023-24 season for the Ducks, averaging 16.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.6 steals in 32.9 minutes per contest. He earned Pac-12 All-Tournament Team honors after leading Oregon to the conference title game and scoring a season-high 32 points against South Carolina, his former team.

The Salt Lake City Stars’ training camp begins on Monday, Oct. 27. The team opens the 2025-26 campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Delta Center in a Kids Day Game matchup (closed to the public) against the Santa Cruz Warriors. The Stars’ home opener at the Maverik Center will be on Tuesday, Nov. 18 against the South Bay Lakers.
