Utah Valley University (UVU) is the largest public university in Utah with more than 37,000 students. It began as a vocational school in 1941 and over time has transitioned from a technical college, to a state college, and finally to a four-year university in 2008. Central to UVU’s mission is that all can succeed in education, regardless of their circumstances. A wide variety of degrees and educational programs are offered including 44 certificates, 62 associate’s degrees, 84 bachelor’s degrees; three graduate certificates and eight master’s degrees, all of which is based on what the university calls engaged learning, meaning students are taught and trained in both academic and real-world settings.
